The Island Disc Golf Society - Promoting the Sport of Disc Golf in Victoria and on Vancouver Island

The Island Disc Golf Society is a registered non-profit Society dedicated to the advancement of disc sports on Vancouver Island.

What is the IDGS?

The Island Disc Golf Society (IDGS) was formed in early 2003 to organize the community and address the needs of both the players and the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society. The disc golf course at Juan De Fuca had been open for 6 years now with little or no attention paid to it in terms of maintenance or upgrading. Our immediate goal in organizing was to begin the process of repairing and upgrading that course to ensure its continued viability. We made significant progress at the Juan De Fuca site and have worked hard to build a solid working relationship with the park staff. We now have the ability to provide any site in Victoria with the following:

· Course design and layout
· Complete course construction
· Maintenance and sustainability plans tailored to your specific terrain
· Volunteers to conduct almost all maintenance
· A direct liaison to your staff for all matters related to the facility
· Volunteers to run disc golf day camps for community groups

The IDGS is an affiliate member of the British Columbia Disc Sports Society (BCDSS). The BCDSS was created in 1989 and is dedicated to the advancement of all disc sports, including disc golf. As an affiliate, we have the ability to draw upon resources from the BCDSS such as the liability insurance all BCDSS members are covered with and special grant programs that can sometimes help with partial course construction costs.
